So, I finally finished the Elfine Socks I was knitting. They've taken me about a month and a half, which is not bad, considering that, other than the toes and the heels, they've been knitted on the way to/from work and during lunch breaks.

This is a variation of a pattern published in "The Art of Knitting", Issue 11. The patter originally calls for a flap heel, which I did, back in the day, and didn't like. So, thanks to the interwebz, I found a wonderful tutorial on short rows here. I tried other methods that Nona explored, but I found the Japanese method works best with this yarn.

This pattern gives instructions for three sizes: Small, medium, large. I am a size 6 and the medium is about right for me. In any case, you can adapt the length of the foot as you knit.

I use two skeins of yarn, one plain and one multicoulour, in coordinating colours. The instructions use plain for the scalloped edge, the heel and the toes, and multicolour for the rest, although I have also done it the other way around.
